They are too large for their own good. I have been extremely critical of Vladovic, and I commend him for listening to his constituents for once rather than acting out of what he feels is the "elite's" point of view. (i.e the 6th grade back to the elementary schools where he only listened to White Point and Taper parents) Cortines and Co. are only concerned about the money and the high schools so it can look like Cortines helped the high school graduation rate (which is terrible). Well, I can guarantee you that this will not go down without a major fight since there is a change to the work calendar as well, it must be voted upon by MOST of the unions. UTLA is already up in arms about this, and I can see AALA joining in as well. It is fine if they mean well, but once again they failed to effectively research the idea and it will hurt them. The district is in shambles, the leaders of the district are corrupt, and the teachers and students need support and cannot get it cause the bureaucrats don't care. Make San Pedro it's own school district. That way we do not have to deal with the LAUSD crap anymore (plus we would not have to bus in students).Letting People KNownoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28181122.post-66188412037546229052010-12-15T19:49:40.662-08:002010-12-15T19:49:40.662-08:00I will comment more later, but one thing I have to...I will comment more later, but one thing I have to ask is why do LAUSD officials keep saying June is a "dead month"?
It's only a dead month if the teacher's decide not to teach anything to the students. Saying teachers and students are exhausted in June is ridiculous. Why would they be any more exhausted in June than any other month? I can tell you right now, if you teach something worthwhile to the students, they will be just as excited about it and teachable in June as they were in September.
If you treat June as a dead month and don't teach them anything, then, yes, it would be pretty boring and pointless.
So, if I go by LAUSD logic, what's going to be the new "dead month"? May of course!Alive Surfinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06904216708672730487noreply@blogger.com
